Ancilla Athletes Achieve Academically

PLYMOUTH, IN – Forty eight student-athletes were recognized at an academic achievement banquet yesterday, for obtaining at least a 3.0 grade point average for the fall semester.

Ancilla College acknowledged these individuals for their hard work and dedication which extended from the court or field into the classroom. Dr. May, Ancilla College President, Gene Reese, Athletic Director and Charger coaches attended the event in order to celebrate the accomplishments of the student-athletes.

Of those 48 student-athletes, 20 attained a 3.5 GPA or higher, while nineteen made the Dean’s list. In comparison to last fall, the athletic department reports these numbers are increase.

Charger athletic director Gene Reese commented, “Our Athletic Director’s Honor Roll Dinner reinforces the high position of academics in athletics. Dr. May spoke on the important role of academics in athletics. Each of head coaches and many assistants came to show their support for academics in their sport. Student-athletes received a free dinner and certificates to the Ancilla College Bookstore for their high grade point averages.”
