Chargers claim another basketball victory

PLYMOUTH, IN – The Ancilla College men’s basketball team continued their winning streak, as they defeated the Stars of Lansing Community College by a score of 83-72, bringing their Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) record to 3-0 and 6-8 overall.

NJCAAbasketballCombining for 42 points, freshmen Andrenos Powell (21) and Juwan Johnson (21) accounted for over 50 percent of the Chargers scoring.

Xavier Ringo added to Ancilla’s offense, putting up fourteen points. Leading the Charger defensive efforts was Powell with nine rebounds (10 total) and Jay Feltson who collected seven of his own (10 total).

“I was very proud of our effort tonight. Lansing is a very good basketball team. Our defense did a great job of covering up Lansing’s three point shooters, which was a big key in our success. We had some foul trouble, but our bench was very big. The guys are playing as a team right now and are really competing. We hope to keep this up as we travel on Wednesday to take on a very good Kalamazoo Valley team,” Ancilla head coach Aaron Butcher said.

The Chargers head to Kalamazoo, Michigan, where they will face Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Wednesday, January 15, at 7:30 p.m.
