Lady Chargers Win on the Road

JACKSON, MI–The Ancilla College women’s basketball team placed four players in double figures on the way to the team’s first win of the season, Saturday. The lady Chargers defeated Jackson College 62-54 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) opener for both teams.

Hope Wagner led Ancilla in scoring with 23 points. Taylor Kuhnle added fourteen, Sydney Beaune netted twelve, and Brittany Himes had eleven. Ancilla trailed by eight points at the half and needed some steady free throw shooting in the second half to secure the win.

“I’m really proud of our team effort against Jackson,” said Ancilla head coach Stephanie Beason. “We played a very smart game and were able to hit clutch free throws the last few minutes to seal the deal,” she said. She estimated her team shot nothing but free throws the final three and a half minutes of the game.
The Chargers will travel to Benton Harbor, Michigan where they will face Lake Michigan College in search of a second conference win. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30p.m. on Friday, January 10.
