Six reasons to choose Ancilla

A college education may seem too difficult, too expensive, or just too much hassle to pursue.  What do you get out of an experience that requires this kind of effort, money and time?

1. You’ll make more money. State and national studies show a college degree means higher pay. It’s really that simple. Over the long run of any jobs and promotions you get, you will earn several hundred thousand to a million dollars or more over your lifetime that you cannot earn with little or no education beyond high school.

Even today, in this time of high unemployment, the number of jobs requiring a college education exceeds the number of qualified candidates needed to fill those jobs.

2. You’ll have a lifetime of increased opportunities. A college degree means you will qualify for more jobs, and they will be higher paying jobs. You will have more chances at promotions, and more flexibility with which jobs you take (and keep).

Why an Ancilla degree?

We offer 18 different degree programs in fields of study that offer real-world value. You will build useful skills and valuable knowledge in small, personal classes not giant lecture halls. You can also finish an Associate’s Degree from Ancilla in two years; depending on how many courses you take each semester. That’s less time than pursing a degree at a ‘big box’ university that may take four, or five, or six years to finish. That means you are out earning a living faster, and still able to go back to school later (sometimes paid by your employer) if you need more education.

3. You’ll learn more. Every day in class, book you read, and course you take will help you be better educated about the things that have an impact on your day-to-day existence. That English paper you struggle with will help you read a lease agreement and write a memo. Your Economics class will give you the background to see how the markets will influence your retirement accounts. Your Math class will build the same skills you need to handle finances for your family. A college education can empower you in all kinds of ways to be more in control of your own life.

We have tutoring, peer coaching, and instructional support available from the first day you start class. Staff and faculty are available to help and the average class size is less that 20 student, so you can count on instructors to provide feedback and answer your questions.

4. You’ll be more ‘fire’ proof. You are better able to weather adversity with a college degree. College degree holders earn more money, have the knowledge and skills to save and invest more of it, and have marketable skills that can’t be taken away. Your education becomes even more valuable during an economic downturn because skilled, educated workers are retained longer.

We are right here in your backyard, just outside Plymouth, two miles south of US 30. You’ll spend less money going to school here, less time travelling, less money on expensive dorm rooms and fees, and you can link up with area resources.

5. You’ll create a foundation to build on. A college education is an investment that will continue to gain value. Having a college degree is becoming increasingly important in the job market because having a degree now will open doors to better jobs in the near future. Having a good job lets you learn more skills and build earning power, which will in turn open more doors and make you more marketable later … and the cycle continues.

You’ll also have future opportunities in ways you may not be considering now. When you graduate from Ancilla, you may not be thinking about a Bachelor’s Degree or even graduate school. But as you get older, you may unexpectedly develop a strong interest in medicine, law, or education. Having a degree that transfers already under your belt will allow you to pursue a future you don’t see yet.

6. You’ll always have an education. A college degree is an accomplishment. You may be the first person in your family to go to college or you may come from a long line of graduates. Either way, your degree stands for something. Knowing you earned your degree will undoubtedly provide you and your family with a tangible sense of pride and accomplishment.
