Internships
Looking for a way to improve your chances of getting the career you want?
Want to know what really goes on in your career of choice?
Try an internship!
Internships are educational and offer real-life experience. Through internships you will be able to learn about the job you are interested in and improve your chances of getting a career in that field. The experience looks great on resumes and shows that you are serious about your career. Internships give you a competitive edge when you enter the workforce.
What is an Internship?
- The work requires special qualifications, both academic and personal.
- The work involves decision making or participation in decisions. An internship cannot include just observation, taking a special course, or routine work, such as a clerk or clerical position.
- There is clear relevance between the work of the project and past academic studies to work in a department of the College. Completion of at least two courses relevant to the department in which you will be working is required. At least one course must be completed prior to the internship and one course may be concurrent.
- The organization has a defined purpose and is structured to enable a member of the organization to supervise and evaluate your performance.
Both paid and volunteer positions are acceptable as internships.
