Welcome to the Beta Beta Beta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa
What is Beta Beta Beta?
Beta Beta Beta is Ancilla College's chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society for two-year colleges. Phi Theta Kappa was founded on the ideals of leadership, scholarship, fellowship, and service.
What can being involved in Phi Theta Kappa do for you?
- Phi Theta Kappa scholarship opportunities come in various ways. Some of these are monies available competitively via essay applications; some are opportunities when you transfer. For example, a number of Indiana colleges offer transfer scholarships to PTK members.
- Phi Theta Kappa members may wear special distinctive dress at Ancilla's graduation: gold stole and tassel with your cap and gown. In addition, your transcript from Ancilla will note your PTK membership. These distinctions recognize the contributions you have made through your scholastic and other involvements (and make you quite visible at commencement).
- Please recognize that Phi Theta Kappa is NOT a sorority or fraternity-like group. It is the largest HONOR SOCIETY for two-year colleges in this country and it has recently created formal collaborations with the National Honor Society on the high school level and Phi Beta Kappa at four-year institutions. Over 600,000 honor students belong world-wide.
- Activities of PTK are all optional but they provide many ways for you to "give back" to the college community and local communities. Phi Theta Kappa involvement also gives you experiences that can open future doors for you in your career - not to mention that these involvements look great on resumes.
- PTK is an active and visible student organization on Ancilla's campus and throughout the state of Indiana. And you will work with some great individuals. Yearly we organize a college-wide holiday food drive, participate in Locks of Love for cancer needs, help the Ronald McDonald House Family Room of Memorial Hospital - and offer other activities of importance to our members.
