Placement Testing

Placement Testing is used to place newly admitted Ancilla College students in the correct classes. All students are required to take the test and their results are used for class placement purposes.

The Placement Test covers the following academic skills: computer skills, writing, sentence skills, reading, and two levels of mathematics. Ancilla College believes the skills covered in the Placement Test are vital to the success of our students in the classroom.

The test consists of two handwritten portions and a computerized portion and takes approximately 3 hours. There is no time limit on any part of the placement test. The handwritten portions include an essay and a brief-response part. The computer portion of the test consists of at least five sections-reading comprehension, sentence skills, arithmetic, elementary algebra and computer skills. You may bring a calculator to use, or one will be provided.

We need to be notified when you are scheduling your appointment if you have a documented learning disability or other documented disability that requires accommodation. Knowing in advance allows us to plan for a reader or other reasonable accommodation to meet your needs. Notifying us the day of your testing may cause a delay in your testing until the appropriate accommodations can be provided. You are not required to notify us of any disability.

Review materials are posted below as links, and more intensive review packets are available.

Placement tests are given by appointment - please call 574-936-8898, ext. 302 to schedule your appointment or to contact us for additional information.
