Ancilla College will be holding Join the Charge a 24-hour Day of Giving to raise money for college scholarships and programs.

One day, 24 hours, 1,440 minutes  —  The Day of Giving

Three years ago, the idea to hold a one day college fundraiser was a small, last minute event that raised about $2,700. “Last year we reached more people, increased the number of donors, and raised $3,400,” said Emily Hutsell, Ancilla’s Development & Alumni Relations Manager.

“Each year we are trying to build on the popularity of the idea that a lot can be accomplished in 24 hours. By having a Day of Giving, we are trying to reach a different segment of the population who use social media and realize that a lot of people working together and making a variety of donations can add up to a make a big impact. We understand we are a small college, but we have so much to offer and be excited about, we hope that people who see our social media campaign this week feel the excitement too and want to participate in this very important day for the college,” Hutsell said in her office Thursday while making posters for the event.

Staff, student interns, volunteers, and faculty are all gearing up for the event which is anticipated to be much larger than the previous Days.

“We want people to come together to make a difference for our students and know that every contribution goes to help our students. This year, the Join the Charge campaign is raising funds for our new Autism Program at Ancilla College (APAC), scholarships for FFA students, and support of academic programs and the overall growth of the college via donations to the Ancilla Fund,” she said.

“We are fortunate to have a very loyal group of donors, but we want the rest of the communities in our area to  see what we have to offer and want to help us advance the mission of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ to serve the underserved and empower students to achieve high academic goals, lifelong learning, successful careers and values-centered lives,” she said.

The Day of Giving will also include on-campus activities including a dunk-tank, a corn hole tournament, and MaxFM 98.3 broadcasting live from campus from 10 am – 1 pm.

“Donations can be made on-campus in the business office, online through our secure website, or we will be happy to come by and pick up a donation if you can’t reach us any other way,” Hutsell said.

It is such a simple concept that many working together can create great progress, we have seen it and live it each day with the PHJC’s who came to the United States 149 years ago and made all of this possible today.

All donations will be recognized on the website and in an upcoming Accent Magazine, but you’ll also earn rewards for helping Ancilla.

Donations can be as small as $20 (you’ll get a lens cloth in recognition of your help)
or $200 (you’ll receive a lens cloth, bumper sticker, t-shirt, and Ancilla coffee mug)
or $2,000 (you’ll receive a a lens cloth, Ancilla t-shirt, coffee mug, and $50 Amazon gift card)
