LANSING, MI – The Ancilla College softball team lost two at Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Western Conference leader and NJCAA #17 Lansing Community College by scores of 3-1 and 8-2.
Tehya Henry’s solo home run in the sixth was the lone Ancilla run in game one. Abbey Renner took the loss for the Chargers. In six innings of work, she allowed just two earned runs and struck out four.
Lansing scored five runs in the first inning of game two on their way to an 8-0 lead, before Ancilla picked up runs in the fifth and seventh innings. The Chargers outhit the host Stars 11-9, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Brooke Stout, Brittany Probasco, Melia Gonzalez, and Renner all had two hits for Ancilla. Stout had both RBI for the Chargers. Allena McElfresh threw two innings of shutout relief for Ancilla.
“The effort was there,” said Ancilla coach Scott Reese, “we just didn’t get the key hits when we needed them. The key for us now is to jump right back into this conference race by staying focused on what is in front of us and not worrying about what is behind us.”
