Ancilla College is committed to the success of its students. The Admission process takes into consideration a number of criteria for acceptance to Ancilla College. We do not discriminate or use any hidden criteria. All new student applicants to Ancilla College are considered individually.

To ensure your educational success the following guidelines are used to make admissions decisions. The Office of Admissions considers the following as standards for first time freshmen.

Requirements for High School Graduates

  • A background of secondary school subjects leading to a college program is preferred: 4 years of English, 3 years of Math, 2 years of Science, and 2 years of Social Studies
  • Performance as measured by grades in the above courses
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 1.75. Ancilla uses an Academic Index, a “grade point average,” on a 4.0 scale

NOTE:  Students who do not meet the above requirements may be admitted if their placement test scores warrant admission.

Ancilla College will use your ACT or SAT scores to qualify you for an academic scholarship but, we do not require either test for admission.

Requirements for GED Graduates

  • Official GED scores
  • All GED recipients must take the placement test to be considered for admission

Requirements for Transfer Students

The Office of Admissions considers the following as standards for a transfer student:

  • Official College transcript(s)
  • Successful completion of college level coursework at a regionally accredited post-secondary institution
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 2.0. on a 4.0 scale
  • Students with less than a 2.0 cumulative GPA or who were academically dismissed from their last school attended must also complete a petition application for admission through the Office of Admissions

Requirements for International Students

Students from outside the United States can apply and be accepted at Ancilla with a few added requirements. Applicants must:

  • Complete the online application for admission.
  • Provide documentation showing completion from high school (or secondary school, senior school, secondary college, etc.).
  • Provide official transcripts from any colleges or university attended. Ancilla College does not evaluate high school or college/university level international transcripts.  Applicants will need to submit the official transcript from the high school or college/university to Ancilla College.  In addition, all foreign transcripts must be evaluated by one of the following agencies:

  • Provide financial documentation showing ability to pay cost of attendance for plan of study as approved by the Business Office.
  • If the primary language of the home country is other than English, the applicant must provide official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A TOEFL score of 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, or 79 internet-based is required. Other tests may apply but please contact the Enrollment Management Office when submitting different test score reports.

NOTE: No action on the formal application for admission will be taken until all required application materials are received.

Requirements for Nursing Program Admission
