DONALDSON – Registration is now open online for the 21st Annual Ancilla Golf Classic, a popular Plymouth-community event that raises funds for college scholarships.

This year, the event will start at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Swan Lake Resort.

Emily Hutsell, Ancilla development and alumni relations manager, said, “This is going to be such a fun day for such a great cause and we have some amazing prize packages this year.”

Prizes for the 2016 event include Notre Dame football tickets, a South Bend Cubs suite of 16 tickets, a Harley Davidson goodie bag from Kersting’s Cycle Center and cash.

“Plus, the Poor Handmaids sisters have guaranteed us great weather,” Hutsell said.

Funds from the event are a critical part of the Ancilla scholarship budget, said Vice President of Development Todd Zeltwanger, “Forty-three percent of Ancilla College students cannot contribute at all to their tuition costs and 50 percent can afford less than $5,000 each year.”

By attending the golf classic, your team supports the future of our students and our community, he said. Many people don’t realize that 70 percent of Ancilla students take out loans and 95 percent receive grants or financial aid.

“We’re doing really good work out here,” he said.

The June 13 event can handle 50 teams and is approximately half full. Registration closes for the typically sold-out event, June 6.

The Ancilla College Golf Classic is the finest outing in the area. The day starts with lunch and offers free drinks and snacks on the course during play. At the end of the day, teams get a prime rib dinner in Swan Lake’s ballroom — all part of the registration fee, $150/player. Proceeds from the event go directly to students in the form of grants and scholarships.

Businesses wishing to sponsor have until May 27. Sponsorship information is also online at by following the sponsorship link.

The 2015 Ancilla College Golf Classic raised over $25,000 for grants and scholarships for Ancilla students.
