Lady Chargers Golf at University of St. Francis Invite
DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla College Women’s Golf Team competed in the University of St. Francis Invitational over the weekend breaking several school records and placing 10th of 14.
In the two-day tournament, Stephanie Crist and Brittany Taylor shot an 87, two shots better than the previous school record of 89.
However, Taylor Parillo outshot Crist and Taylor to break the school record a second time with an impressive 81 for 18 holes. The team also set the overall team low score with a 367.
Day two of the invitational was led by Brittany Taylor who shot a 90 and led the team overall shooting a two day total of 177. Taylor’s performance put her tied for 35th overall in a field of 14 teams.
“I could not be more proud of the way the girls played. They were the only junior college school represented,” Ancilla head coach Marc Green said.
Ancilla golfers regularly represent the school of less than 600 students in events and tournaments that include much larger community colleges and universities.
To have three girls who really stepped-up and played well on day one says a lot about this team. With this being our last tournament of the fall, it was so great to see all of the girls improving so much,” Green said.
The Ancilla College Chargers compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past five years, Ancilla student-athletes have earned academic and athletic honors in a variety of sports. Ancilla, founded in 1937, is a comprehensive, Catholic, liberal arts college offering more than two dozen academic concentrations.
