Elementary Education
‘El Ed’ students master a broad base of liberal arts education while also gaining firsthand knowledge of teaching and learning through visits and observations to area classrooms. Coursework focuses on child development and learning, on cultural diversity, on multi-disciplinary knowledge, and on various teaching pedagogies. Field experiences in diverse settings are part of the program as well.

Secondary Education
This degree will provide a solid foundation for students in understanding how children grow and develop and be able to identify common physical, cognitive, and socioemotional changes that characterize those developmental periods. Students will also gain firsthand knowledge of the demands of a teaching career by the many hours of observations and/or field experience in local schools.

Early Childhood Education
Early childhood is defined as the ages from birth through age 8. When children are young they are like little sponges and very impressionable. The Early Childhood Education program at Ancilla College will provide you with the necessary skills for encouraging the younger generation to have an enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
