Why the LPN to ASN program?
Ancilla College offers an LPN to ASN Program for bridging the gap between the educational requirements of LPNs and ASNs and provides you with an opportunity to advance both your education and your potential for professional advancement. Coursework in the Program are designed to build your understanding of nursing theory, nursing science, patient care methods and professional nursing practice.
The program combines small, interactive classroom learning with expert clinical experiences at local and regional health care facilities.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to Associates of Nursing Science (ASN) Program at Ancilla College will prepare you to take the NCLEX licensure exam for licensure as an ASN. Students achieving an ASN often continue on to receive a bachelor’s (BSN) or master’s (MSN) for more career advancement opportunities.

What prerequisite classes are required?
Prerequisite General Education Courses:
BIOL 252 Anatomy & Physiology I (4 cr)
BIOL 254 Anatomy & Physiology II (4 cr)
BIOL 270 Microbiology (4 cr)
ENGL 110 Writing I (3 cr)
Are credits from other colleges accepted?
The decision on transferring in course credits from other colleges is made by the Registrar of Ancilla.
What is the time limit for accepting courses?
Science courses (Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology) are not accepted after 7 years. Other general education courses do not have a time limit.
Are all nursing courses offered every semester?
Yes; All Nursing courses are offered every semester.
Are nursing classes offered in the summer?
Some Nursing courses may be offered in the summer sessions. General Education courses required for the nursing program are offered in the summer.
Are nursing classes offered during Winter session?
Nursing classes are sometimes offered during the Winter session.
How many days per week will we have classes?
Students normally have classes at the college or clinical site 2-3 days per week. This will vary according to the classes you are taking. Some classes are offered online.
Can I take classes part time?
Yes, depending on your financial aid status.
Is there a certain GPA required?
Yes, a GPA of 3.0 is required in the prerequisite classes.
How long does it take to complete the program?
The program can be completed in as quickly as 2 semesters if all of the gen. ed. requirements are completed and if you are a fulltime student. If you choose to be part time, you have 4 semesters to complete the program.
