On Thursday, April 20th, Ancilla College held their 3rd Annual Join the Charge Day of Giving, and is celebrating a successful event that raised over $10,000 for academic programs, scholarships, student financial aid, athletic teams and the overall growth of the college. This is significantly more than the $3,700 raised in 2016, for this one day event.
This year, over 60 donors were able to choose the college area their money would be applied to. The majority of donations were made to the Ancilla Fund, the college’s main fund that supports student financial aid with $8,000; however the Agriculture department, Golf teams, academic programs and scholarships each raised significantly more than last year. Donations came in from staff, alumni, and friends from Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, Texas, Ohio, Virginia, and Indiana.
“What an exciting day for Ancilla College that we can come together to raise this much money!” said Emily Hutsell.
Hutsell is Ancilla’s Alumni Relations Manager and coordinator of The Day of Giving event. “We are so excited to see the growth of this event and look forward to everyone Joining the Charge next year,” she said.
“There is still time to donate, and we will be raising additional funds with our Dunk Tank of Thanks,” Hutsell said. The dunk tank has been a popular fundraiser in years past.
Faculty, staff and coaches have volunteered to be the ‘dunkees,’ and for three throws for $1, Hutsell suggested the chance to dunk a faculty member or coach is both a great bargain and a great cause.
