Lady Chargers Continue Their Streak with a Victory over Kalamazoo
DONALDSON, IN – The Ancilla Volleyball Team continued their winning streak, notching eight in a row, with a win Tuesday night at Kalamazoo Valley with scores of 25-14, 25-20, 23-25, 25-12. The Lady Chargers are now 20-5 and 10-3 in the MCCAA.
Leading the way offensively for the Chargers were Sophomores Jill Brown and Samantha Brenneman who each had eight kills apiece and setter Jackie Friel who had 18 assists. Friel was perfect in serving going 19 for 19 with one ace and Maddie Price was perfect in serving going 15 for 15 with two aces.
On the defensive side of things, Brown had 14 digs followed by Natalee Walters and Price’s eight digs each. Darrian Mowery and Sydney Harmon led in the blocking department with two block solos and five block assists and two block solos and three block assists respectively. Tori Bush added four block assists and Jill Brown had two block solos and two block assists. Autumn Taylor had three block solos and Brenneman had one block solo and two block assists.
Coach Singleton commented, “Other than in the 3rd set we did a solid job blocking tonight that converted into several points for us. That was nice to see. I was also super impressed with the play of Jill Brown, Samantha Brenneman, Maddie Price, and Jackie Friel. Sam hit .466 tonight and Jill hit .38. Jackie and Maddie both served tough and Maddie came up with some unbelievably defensive plays for us tonight. It was a great team effort, every team member contributed.”
The Lady Chargers are back at home in Charger arena on Thursday when they face off against Glen Oaks Community College at 6:30p.m.
