Associate of Nursing Requirements

Ancilla College is committed to the success of its students. The Division of Nursing Admission process takes into consideration a number of criteria for acceptance into the Associate of Nursing Program at Ancilla College. We do not discriminate or use any hidden criteria. All student applicants to Ancilla College are considered individually.

To ensure your educational success the following guidelines are used to make nursing admissions decisions. The Division of Nursing also considers the following as standards for incoming nursing program students.

Applications for the ASN and LPN to RN Bridge Program are being accepted now for Fall 2019.

Deadline to receive all required documentation is April 1, 2019. 

Admissions Criteria & Requirements For the Nursing Program

ASN Admission Criteria
  • Acceptance into Ancilla College through completing the General Admissions Process
  • Minimum GPA of 2.75 on 4.0 scale
  • TEAS or ACT Testing: the following test scores are required for admissions to the ASN program if a student has completed less than 12 college credit hours:
    • ACT composite score ≥ 20,
    • or ATI TEAS test academic preparedness level: PROFICIENT
LPN to RN Bridge Admissions Criteria
  • Acceptance into Ancilla College through completing the General Admissions Process
  • Unemcumbered LPN license in the state of Indiana
ASN Admission Requirements & Application Process

Students applying to the ASN Program must complete the steps identified below.  Be sure to note the application deadlines.  The program is highly competitive and applications submitted beyond the deadline will not be reviewed until the next admissions semester.

Step 1: Complete an application for Ancilla College online.

  • 1b. Request final high school transcript
  • 1c. Request transcripts from all colleges attended

Apply to Ancilla College; request transcripts from high school and all colleges attended (if applicable); have them sent to Ancilla College Admissions Department*.  All transcripts will be reviewed by the college registrar under the policies in place at the time of review. You will receive a letter showing which courses will transfer in. You will also receive a letter of acceptance to the college. (Note – being accepted as a general student at Ancilla College does not guarantee admission to the ASN Program).

Step 2: Complete Ancilla College Nursing application

This application should be completed at the same time as the College application. Nursing applications are accepted at any time during the year.

Step 3: Complete a criminal background check online

The cost is $65.75. The background report is sent directly to the Division of Nursing.

Step 4: TEAS or ACT Testing

The following test scores are required for admission to the ASN program if a student has completed less than 12 college credit hours:

  • ACT composite score > 20 OR
  • ATI TEAS test academic preparedness level: PROFICIENT

The application cannot be reviewed for admission into the ASN Program until all of the above criteria is completed and submitted.

                APPLICATION DEADLINES

Spring Semester  (begins in January):            October 1st

Fall Semester (begins in August):                     April 1st

Additional Information:

  • New students are accepted into the ASN program twice a year, fall and spring semester.
  • Review of applications will begin April 1st for the fall semester, and October 1st for the spring semester. New students will continue to be accepted from the beginning date until the cohort is full. You will be notified by email and regular mail of your admission status.
  • A points system in place for accepting new students. Additional points are awarded to students who are currently taking classes at Ancilla College.
  • After the ASN cohort has been filled, the Division of Nursing will place approximately 5 students who have successfully completed the nursing application process on a back-up list in the event that any admitted students cannot begin the program for the upcoming semester. These students will be notified that the cohort is currently filled, and that they are on a back-up list. Students on the back-up list who are not fully admitted for the upcoming semester will automatically be admitted for the following semester.
  • If an applicant was not admitted or placed on the back-up list for the upcoming semester, their application will be kept on file to be reviewed for possible admission to the following semester.

How Do I Send My Transcripts?

HOW DO I SEND MY TRANSCRIPTS?

  • Have your high school transcripts sent from your high school to the Admissions Office
  • Final high school transcripts must contain:
  1.  A signature from the high school official
  2.  A graduation date
  • Submit your official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • College transcripts must be official
  • Transcripts can be sent electronically, by mail or brought directly into Admissions.

 

These transcripts must remain in the sealed envelope with the Registrar stamp or the transcripts are considered unofficial.

LPN to RN Bridge Admissions Requirements & Application Process

Students applying to the LPN to RN Bridge Program must complete the steps identified below.  Be sure to note the application deadlines.  The program is highly competitive and applications submitted beyond the deadline will not be reviewed until the next admissions semester.

 

Step 1: Complete an application for Ancilla College online

  • 1b. Request final high school transcript
  • 1c. Request transcripts from all colleges attended

Complete a separate Nursing application and mail or email it to the Division of Nursing. This application should be completed at the same time as the College application. Nursing applications are accepted at any time during the year.

Step 3: Have a current, unencumbered Indiana LPN license

You can be accepted into the Bridge program with a “pending” IN LPN license but the license must be “active” before you can begin classes.

Step 4: Complete a criminal background check online

Ancilla College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). The Nursing program is approved by the Indiana State Board of Nursing (ISBN) and is recognized by the National League for Nursing (NLN). National accreditation through the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, Inc. (ACEN) for the nursing program is in progress.
