Student Employment Opportunities at Ancilla College!
The following positions are available for students to apply for as work-study employment while attending Ancilla College. Note: Availability may vary. Some positions are filled by year and others by semester, please see the Financial Aid Office for details.
A student currently holding one of these positions has priority in hiring/rehiring. To be eligible for these positions you must be a student at Ancilla College.
The listed positions all require the ability to preserve the security and confidentiality of student information in accordance with the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, and as such must sign a FERPA statement form.
Available Student Work Positions
Position Title: America Reads Tutor
Description: Assist classroom teachers with tutoring of elementary students through one on one reading or group reading environments, or other related duties as assigned by classroom teacher.
Position Title: Assistant to Athletic Director
Description: Duties include assisting with mailings, special projects and other duties as assigned by the Athletic Coordinator. Knowledge of computers and MS Office software; have good verbal and written skills; have the ability to interact well with students, faculty, staff, guests and the community.
Position Title: Medical Assistant – Health Linc, Knox, IN
Description:Prepare patients for office visit, answer phones, filing, data entry, scanning, misc office duties and other related duties as assigned by the Director of Health Linc, Knox, IN. Health Science and/or Nursing degree seeking students preferred. Computer skills required and good customer service skills preferred.
Position Title: Receptionist / Office Assistant – Health Linc, Knox, IN
Description:Answer phones, appointment scheduling, filing, data entry, scanning, misc office duties and other related duties as assigned by the Director of Health Linc, Knox, IN. Computer skills required and good customer service skills preferred.
Position Title: Enrollment Management Assistant
Description:Assist Office Manager with office filing and communications; back up to office coordinator and answer phones as needed; maintain and update college information throughout the campus; update student recruitment and admissions data as needed; gather and deliver office mail and handle mail duties as assigned for the college; make phone calls to prospective students and other duties as assigned
Position Title: Financial Aid Assistant
Description: Filing; assist with mailings; making labels for files; answering phones and taking messages; collate, fold and staple materials for the office staff; assist with office projects as needed; data entry into Univers system; maintain work-study time sheets and notebook; maintain loan tracking database and standards of financial aid progress database; make up loan packages and FAFSA packages; and other duties as approved by supervisor. Knowledge of computers and MS Office software; have good verbal and written skills; and have the ability to interact well with students, faculty, staff, guests and the community.
Position Title: Business Office Clerk
Description: Generate invoice after student has registered. Receive funds (cash, check or credit card) and issue receipt to students. Prepare check request for student tuition/fee refunds as necessary. Receive, record and prepare loan checks for mailing to students. Must apply loans funds to the student account if there is a balance due. File necessary forms with local and state agencies for tuition assistance. Prepare and mail monthly statements to students. Back up person to perform duties for the Business Office Clerk position. Have knowledge of computers and MS Office software; and have the ability to interact well with students, faculty, staff, guests and the community. Assist in Bookstore when needed.
Position Title: Library Assistant
Description: Providing appropriate responses to reference questions and other requests for help from students, faculty and staff. Represent the library in a positive manner. Duties include: charging, discharging, and renewing materials; printing and distributing student overdue fine notices; collecting fines and issuing receipts; entering patron requests for charged items; accepting interlibrary loan requests from patrons; assisting students with searching the Internet, the Academic Index ASAP, the on-line catalog and other electronic resources; helping students with the photocopy machine, and making change for it; shelving books, magazines, and other materials; taking telephone requests and messages for the librarian; making on-the-fly records for magazines and other library materials; putting reserve materials into the database; delivering inter-office mail; doing some word processing; and reference assistance to students, faculty, and staff. Posses good communication skills; be able to interact with students, faculty, staff and guests; have some computer experience; and be honest and reliable.
Position Title: Science Lab Assistant
Description: Clean chemistry and biology glassware, help in Microbiology and/or Chemistry Lab(s) in preparation for classes, and clean up of lab after classes.
Position Title: Advising Center Lab Assistant
Description: Responsible for assisting the Director with day-to-day operations of the Center including answering phone, taking messages, running copies, word-processing as necessary, facilitating record-keeping and tutoring as needed. This may include assisting students, faculty or staff with SSC computer software, information about the Center’s programs or services and documentation. Have good communication and writing skills; have the ability to interact with students, faculty, staff and guests; and demonstrate the ability to work well with a diverse student body and community. Student must have strong interpersonal skills, must be willing to learn new skills, and must be honest and reliable. Have knowledge of computers and MS Office software.
Position Title: Nursing Lab Assistant
Description: Responsible for the overall condition of the nursing lab: 1. ensuring materials are placed back in the cabinets, clean and ready for re-use, 2. ensuring the lab is secure; cabinets are locked and the room secured when the work-study leaves the room, 3. ensuring the lab resources do not leave the lab and computers are utilized properly. Also be responsible for preparing the necessary items requested by the faculty for clinical or didactic teaching, and would be provided a list of items required by when and where the instructor would like them placed. Once the instructor is completed with the items, the student would place them back into storage or to the library etc. as directed. Finally, the student(s) would be responsible for posting open lab hours for any nursing student to practice skills within the lab. The student(s) would be available to mentor other students through skills they are learning, and may also be asked to schedule times outside posted hours to assist students as required.
Position Title: Social Media and Marketing Assistant, 5 hours/wk.
Description: General office help (copying, printing, managing calendars, writing drafts) with the opportunity to write and post for Ancilla College’s Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn accounts. Some graphic design work may be requested. On-trend creativity in brainstorming responsible written and visual ideas a must. Solid writing skills and knowledge of social media platforms required. Successful candidate needs to be comfortable exploring and working with new software programs and be able to find answers independently. Experience with graphic design and photo editing programs from Publisher to Adobe Creative Suite preferred. Will train the right candidate.
